It’s not like depression/self harm is new in the GLBT community. Why alienate those persons by just telling them to unfollow?
Seriously. Triggers can be devastating to people and you should take that into consideration, imho. It would be sufficient to just put a link or text that says “trigger warning for [insert particular type of content here]”… at least that way you wouldn’t be alienating a good chunk of the LGBTQ population. It’s not a person’s fault if they experience panic attacks due to trauma, etc. Queer Secrets should be a tool to help people get things off their chest, cope, partake in dialogue… things like that.
Trigger warnings are thoughtful and admirable.
